Julia Fiona Roberts, born October 28, 1967 at Atlanta in the United States to Betty Lou Bredemus & Walter Grady Roberts. Roberts belongs to the fourth generation of Robertses who live in the Atlanta area beginning with her great-grandfather John Pendleton Roberts a farmer. Her father was a young man when he began to take an interest in theater. While he was a student in Emory University from 1952 to 1954, he was a part of many shows. He joined the military in 1953 and, while being stationed at Biloxi Mississippi, was cast in an army production that featured Betty Lou Bredemus who was as well in the Air force. They married in 1955. Their son, Eric Anthony, was born in 1956. Walter was an undergraduate at Tulane University, New Orleans Louisiana. In 1957 they quit the Air Force and Walter began his studies at Tulane University. Walter was recruited as a technician by Atlanta Academy Theater and Harrington Scenic and Lighting Studio to be a part of the production team for Bum Bum and His Buddies. The show was filmed in Decatur Georgia. Walter along with Betty Lou started production in 1964 for the children's local Saturday morning show on television called Bum Bum and His Buddies, which they funded themselves. They established an Actors and Writers Workshop in the same year, which ran for six years. They welcomed in 1965 two new children: Lelisa Billingsley and Julia Billingsley.
